Jordi Savall, Sònia Hernández, consellera de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, i Martí Sancliment, coordinador del certamen.
The programme for this sixth edition, which will take place from 10 to 16 August 2026 at the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus, Montblanc, Valls and Alcover, was officially unveiled. With an expected audience of over 10,000 attendees, this new edition will bring together international artists, contemporary creations and several concerts conducted by Jordi Savall, recently awarded the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize, often referred to as the “Nobel Prize of music”.
Inspired by the solar eclipse that will cross the Iberian Peninsula on 12 August 2026, this edition offers unique experiences. One of the most remarkable events will be the Concert for an Eclipse, taking place at the exact moment of the phenomenon in a secret natural location, featuring musician Josep Maria Martí. That same evening, the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus will host the Homage to Copernicus, with Hespèrion XXI, La Capella Reial de Catalunya and vocal soloists from Poland under the direction of Jordi Savall.
The programme includes leading names from the international music scene such as Quatuor Mosaïques, countertenor William Shelton, soprano Núria Rial, cellist Christophe Coin and violinist Tcha Limberger with the Budapest Gypsy Ensemble. The festival will also present projects that connect different musical traditions, including a performance by Senegalese musician Momi Maiga with Adama Cissokho and Michel Doudou, and the project Women of the East, led by Syrian singer Waed Bouhassoun.
Other highlights include the performance of Das Jahr by Fanny Mendelssohn, interpreted by pianist Olga Pashchenko with stage participation by actress Elena Tarrats, as well as a concert by organists Montserrat Torrent and Juan de la Rubia.
New music will also play a key role, with the world premiere of Lumen tenebrae by Bernat Vivancos, performed by the Jove Capella Reial de Catalunya under the direction of Lluís Vilamajó. The programme also features the premiere and residency of Saó, a production by Mireia Peñálver, Santiago Gervasoni and Oriol Borràs, supported by the Banc Sabadell Foundation.
The festival will conclude on 16 August with a large symphonic concert in the open air at the Royal Monastery of Santes Creus, featuring around seventy musicians on stage. Le Concert des Nations, conducted by Jordi Savall, will perform The Hebrides and Mendelssohn’s Symphonies No. 3 “Scottish” and No. 4 “Italian”.
Alongside the concerts, the festival will offer complementary cultural activities such as Santes Creus Looks to the Sky, a night-time visit to the monastery to observe the stars, and the exhibition The Set Table, recreating a 15th-century banquet with a live historical cooking experience.
One of the new features of this edition is an agreement with the ”la Caixa” Foundation to create an audiovisual channel for the festival on the CaixaForum+ platform, featuring recorded concerts and new content dedicated to Jordi Savall’s musical universe.
The poster for this year’s edition has been created by the artist Perejaume, who has also conceived a special artistic piece for the festival.
