Jordi Savall has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, in recognition of over fifty years of an exceptional career dedicated to the recovery, interpretation, and dissemination of European historical musical heritage. The award was presented during a solemn ceremony held in the Sala della Regina at Montecitorio, during which the concert Il Giardino delle Esperidi was performed.
The award recognizes Jordi Savall as an international reference in early music and his constant commitment to rigorous interpretation, faithful to the sources and the use of original instruments. His work has allowed the rediscovery of numerous scores and sounds from the past, connecting them with the sensibilities of contemporary audiences.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, the President of the Commission for the Oversight of Managing Entities, Alberto Bagnai, and featured a speech by Michele Gasbarro, artistic director of the Roma Festival Barocco. With this award, the Chamber of Deputies recognizes Jordi Savall as a key figure in European and Mediterranean cultural heritage and emphasizes the value of music as a universal language for dialogue, education, and coexistence.
