KÀRDIA brings orchestral instruments closer to the community at the Jordi Savall Festival

18/08/2026

KÀRDIA, the social initiative of the YOCPA 2.0 – Youth Orchestra & Choir Professional Academies project, took part in the social programme of the Jordi Savall Festival on Saturday, 15 August, with a workshop dedicated to discovering orchestral instruments up close.

The activity brought together seven young musicians from YOCPA 2.0, members of Le Concert des Nations who took part in the performance of Mendelssohn’s Symphonies under the direction of Jordi Savall. During the session, the musicians introduced their instruments to the audience and shared their knowledge and experience in an engaging and participatory format.

The workshop gave participants the opportunity to discover different orchestral instruments first-hand, listen to their distinctive sounds and understand the role they play within the ensemble. At the same time, the activity encouraged direct interaction between the young performers and the community, turning music into a space for dialogue, discovery and exchange.

The day concluded with an open rehearsal, giving participants the opportunity to gain insight into the process of preparing a concert and discover the collective work behind an orchestral performance.

The activity is part of KÀRDIA, YOCPA 2.0’s social initiative, created with the aim of broadening access to music, reaching new audiences and creating spaces for cultural participation and exchange between young musicians and the community.

Through this initiative, the Jordi Savall Festival also strengthens its social and educational dimension, making music not only an artistic experience, but also a tool for learning, participation and connection with the wider community.
